What Makes the YMCA's Youth Sports Programs Special?
Like many youth sports programs, YMCA coaches lead players through drills and games that build skills, develop coordination and enhance a love of the game. But what makes us special is our philosophy. We make sure everyone participates. And we emphasize the development of character -- caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.
At the YMCA, what happens off the field is just as important as what happens on the field. Fill your child’s free hours with safe, fun activities around caring adults at the YMCA. Children/ Youth are placed on teams according to school or surrounding areas.
Youth in Grades Preschool through Grade 3 play modified, instructional game with coaching referees. Youth in Grades 4-7 play regular rules with some modification. The program runs for eight weeks total with six games. This program is dependent on volunteer parents as coaches. Please contact the Youth Sports Director if you are interested in volunteering. Coaches will be trained to teach the specific sport prior to the practices and the games. All athletes receive YMCA Youth League shirts and Certificates.
Disclaimer: Youth may only play on one team per sport and may not fill in on teams on a different team or division. Youth may be placed on a team with a combined grade but no more than one year difference in school.
